Château de la Fontaine, Renaissance castle in Brétigny-sur-Orge, France.

The Château de la Fontaine displays Renaissance architectural elements with stone facades and mullioned windows characteristic of the 16th century French construction.

Two separate manors initially occupied the site in 1285, before their unification in 1475 to form a single fief named after a drinking water source.

The Marquis d'Estaings Boucher d'Argis, a jurist and author of legal treatises, resided in this castle until the French Revolution.

The building, located in a 58,000 square meter park open to the public since 1976, now houses the Technological University Institute of Évry.

Baron Fain, Napoleon I's personal secretary and mayor of Brétigny-sur-Orge, lived in the castle from 1799 to 1821 after the emperor's abdication.
