Château Saint-Germain, Medieval castle in Gaugeac, France.
The fortress features two round towers and stands prominently on a hill overlooking the Dropt valley before it meets Lot-et-Garonne.
The castle served as an advanced fortification of Château de Biron during the 15th century, controlling traffic through the wooded plateaus.
In medieval times, the Lord of Saint-Germain held the honor of holding the bridle of the Lady of Biron's horse during her first entry.
Visitors can explore the castle grounds, including the preserved hexagonal tower elements and monumental fireplaces on the second floor.
The castle's towers were modified in the 18th century after the castellan claimed he could see his suzerain from the dormers.
