Basilique Notre-Dame-des-Miracles de Mauriac

The Notre-Dame-des-Miracles basilica features two massive square towers on its western facade and contains a central nave with side aisles and a semicircular apse.

The construction of this religious monument started in the 11th century, making it the oldest Romanesque building in Upper Auvergne after modifications through centuries.

The western portal displays a tympanum depicting the Ascension, while the interior houses a 16th-century black Madonna statue and a 12th-century baptismal font.

The basilica welcomes visitors throughout the year with guided tours available from June 15 to September 15, and group visits require advance reservations.

A 13th-century lantern of the dead stands next to the southern portal, representing a rare architectural element in religious buildings of the region.
