Château de la Vigne, Medieval castle in Ally, France

Château de la Vigne stands with a square tower and multiple residential sections surrounded by moats in the Cantal department of France.

The castle construction began in 1440 under Louis II de Scorailles to replace the former Scorailles fortress after the Hundred Years War.

The castle interior contains Renaissance wall paintings from the 16th century, including notable works such as Atalante and Meleager in the studiolo.

Visitors can explore the castle grounds, collections of miniature cars and dolls during guided tours available in July and August.

During World War II, the castle served as a resistance shelter and protected Jewish children from deportation, marking a significant humanitarian role.
