Château de Brias

Château de Brias is a manor situated on a roughly 17-hectare estate with several outbuildings and remnants of military structures from World War II. The grounds still bear traces of these layers through the various constructions that developed over the decades.

During World War I, Marshal Foch established his command center at this manor while directing operations during the Battle of Artois in 1915. Later, German forces adapted the estate into an air defense command center during the following conflict.

The manor served as a filming location for the 2004 movie 'Joyeux Noël', which depicts the Christmas truce during World War I. Visitors can see the link between this historical location and a well-known film that tells a human story from the trenches.

The property remains private and closed to public visits due to substantial damage and looting from various conflicts throughout its past. Visitors can view the estate from outside, but should respect the owner's privacy and security.

The estate still displays visible traces of its adaptation by German forces, including preserved bunkers and aircraft taxiways on the grounds. These physical remnants offer a direct glimpse into how the location functioned as a strategic defense hub.
