Château de Calvières

Château de Calvières is a castle with an L-shaped layout in Saint-Laurent-d'Aigouze, featuring a grand entrance portal and distinctive architectural details across its east and west wings. The structure encloses a service courtyard within its design.

The castle originated as an architectural ensemble and underwent significant rebuilding during the 18th century. The main residential section was structurally separated from the original complex during this period.

The painted rooms on the first floor showcase artistic tastes from the second half of the 17th century, with vegetation and landscape designs adorning the ceilings. These spaces reveal how residents of that era decorated their living spaces.

The castle is located on Rue Blanqui and opens to visitors during special events in September. You should check ahead for current opening dates since access to the site is limited to specific occasions.

Since 2020, the castle serves as a filming location for the French television series 'Ici tout commence'. The show is produced on the grounds and has brought widespread attention to the site.
