Château de Médavy

Château de Médavy is a fortified residence in Normandy with four corner towers and classical design, surrounded by moats and located between Argentan and Sées. The buildings were constructed mainly in the early 1700s and continue to define the landscape today.

The castle was a stronghold of the Duchy of Normandy starting in the 12th century and was then completely rebuilt in the early 18th century. This transformation created the classical form you see today.

The rooms inside display furniture and objects from the 18th century that show how the regional nobility lived. You can see the belongings and decorations that filled their daily lives.

The castle opens for afternoon visits during the summer months and offers guided tours of the interior rooms and gardens. Visitors can also explore the linden tree alleys that run through the grounds.

Two medieval towers, Saint-Jean and Saint-Pierre, remain standing and were integrated into the classical redesign of the 18th century. These preserved elements show how old and new architecture were joined together.
