Château de Méréville

The estate features caves, lakes, waterfalls, bridges, and a temple within a circular basin where the River Juine flows through the landscape garden.

Jean-Joseph de Laborde purchased Méréville in 1784 and transformed it with architects François-Joseph Bélanger and Hubert Robert before his execution during the French Revolution.

The garden stands as an early representation of the romantic French landscape design, marking a transition from formal geometric gardens to naturalistic compositions.

The Domain welcomes visitors from April through October, offering guided tours at 7 euros and free entry for children under 12 years old.

Seven hundred workers spent a decade constructing the park, incorporating rare imported plants and a rostral column commemorating the owner's sons.
