Château de Mazières

Château de Mazières is a stone castle on the left bank of the Bouzanne River with a distinctive tower structure. Its western side features a tall keep beside a circular tower, while multiple rooms inside served different purposes over the centuries.

The castle was built in the 12th century as a defensive structure and underwent major renovations in the 14th and 15th centuries after the Hundred Years War. These renovations shaped it into its current form.

The castle serves as an event venue today and retains its medieval character through original stone walls and towers. Visitors can experience the building's original layout as they move through the rooms and corridors.

The property now operates as an event venue offering guest rooms and reception halls for gatherings. Visitors should confirm in advance if the site is available, as private events may limit access during your visit.

An original fireplace from the 15th-century renovation was removed from the building and is now displayed in the Châteauroux museum. This piece shows the craftsmanship of that era.
