Château de Mercy

Château de Mercy is a Neoclassical château in Ars-Laquenexy built from pale Savonnières limestone and featuring clean geometric forms with restrained classical details. Its main building is accompanied by an adjacent chapel, and the overall composition appears well-proportioned and orderly.

Maurice du Coëtlosquet commissioned the château between 1905 and 1908, replacing an earlier structure destroyed in 1870 during regional conflicts. The new building emerged as a reconstruction following a period of significant upheaval in the area.

The château reflects artistic thinking of its era through design choices shaped by regional craftspeople and architects. Its style shows how local builders approached grand residential construction and incorporated contemporary design ideas.
