Château de Monbouan

Château de Monbouan is a castle with extensive grounds spanning roughly 64 hectares near Moulins in Brittany. The gardens were designed by Gillet and combine manicured landscaping with natural Breton countryside.

Construction began in 1771 following designs by architect Besnard. Jean-Baptiste Martenot later made significant changes to the building.

The name reflects the location in the Breton region, and the garden design follows classical French principles that shaped how the grounds were developed. Visitors can observe how the architecture integrates with its surroundings and the importance of the carefully tended spaces to the overall estate.
