Château de Plieux

Château de Plieux is a rectangular fortress featuring two square towers at opposite corners and defensive walls extending along three sides. The structure displays Renaissance modifications layered over its medieval core.

The fortress was built in 1340 by the Faudoas family for military defense. Ownership later passed to the noble families Galard and Rochechouart.

The castle functions today as an art center, displaying contemporary works in its historical rooms during warmer months. Visitors experience modern creativity within medieval stone walls.

The Sainte-Mère tower stands out as a main point of interest within the grounds. The site is accessible for walking through its rooms and observing the architectural details.
