Château de Bagnolet, Château on the Charente riverbank in Cognac, France.

Château de Bagnolet is a mansion on the Charente riverbank in Cognac with a central square pavilion and two smaller wings. The buildings overlook a nine-hectare English-style park with open meadows, flower beds, and mature trees throughout the grounds.

The estate was built in 1810 by the Augier family and came under the ownership of the Hennessy cognac house in 1841. The change in ownership brought new investment and development to the property during the 19th century.

The gardens reflect an English garden style with curved paths and flower beds that guide visitors through different sections. You can sense how much care went into creating these spaces as a reflection of the family's refinement and taste.

Spring and summer are the best times to visit when the gardens are in full bloom and the pathways are dry. Wear comfortable shoes since the grounds cover considerable area and some sections can become muddy after rain.

A centuries-old wisteria vine covers the pergola near the terrace, showing the long history of these gardens. Restoration workers discovered the original paved foundation beneath it, which visitors can still see today as a trace of earlier landscaping.
