Château de la Touche

Chateau de la Touche is a castle in Nozay set within a large park that extends toward the village church. The property is accessed through monumental gates with separate passages for carriages and pedestrians.

The original building burned down in 1790 during the French Revolution and was not replaced immediately. Count Francois de Monti de Reze instead built a new castle on the site in 1827.

The entrance gate displays decorative machicolations and tuffeau stone work typical of Loire Valley building traditions. These details shape how the place looks and show the craftsmanship that went into its construction.

The outbuildings open to visitors during July and September, with special access during Heritage Days accompanied by guided tours in French. It helps to plan your visit ahead since opening times are limited to specific periods.

The entrance gates sustained damage from American tanks during World War II, prompting their reconstruction after the war. This rebuild allowed the passages to be widened to accommodate larger vehicles.
