The château stands amid 72 hectares of land, featuring gardens, farmland, woods, and separate houses for groundskeepers near the main building.
Built in the 19th century, the estate belonged to Charles Lefebvre-Desnouettes before Russian aristocrat Countess de Ségur purchased it in 1820.
The Countess de Ségur wrote numerous literary works during her residence at the château, where she lived with her eight children until 1872.
The Department of Orne acquired the property in 1930, and it now functions as a medical-educational institute with regular visiting hours.
The château grounds contain several ancient trees and maintain separate residences for the caretaker and gardener, preserving its original layout.
