Noisetier Cave, Prehistoric archaeological cave site in Fréchet-Aure, France.
The Noisetier Cave extends into limestone formations at an elevation of 672 meters, containing multiple chambers with mineral deposits and geological features.
Archaeological excavations in the cave have uncovered Mousterian period stone tools and evidence of Neanderthal settlements from approximately 50,000 years ago.
The stone tools and animal remains found within the cave demonstrate the advanced manufacturing techniques and hunting practices of Neanderthal communities.
Visitors can access the cave through guided tours departing from Fréchet-Aure village, with proper equipment and advance reservations required.
The cave maintains a constant temperature throughout the year, which has preserved numerous archaeological artifacts in their original condition.
