Grottes des Moidons, Natural cave and viewpoint in Molain, France
The Grottes des Moidons is a cave system in the Jura region featuring multiple limestone chambers. The rooms display stalactites, stalagmites, and mineral deposits that formed over thousands of years.
The cave was discovered in 1966 and opened to visitors in 1989. It provides insight into geological processes dating back millions of years.
The cave network features regular sound and light presentations that illuminate the mineral formations while explaining their geological development through educational narration.
Access is available from April through September, with guided tours lasting about 50 minutes. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes as the paths are uneven and it is cool inside the cave.
Inside there is an area dedicated to the bats that live there. Visitors learn how these animals use the cave and its ecosystem.
