Musée du train miniature de Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne, Railway museum in Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne, France.
The Musée du train miniature de Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne is a railway museum centered on miniature landscapes spread across 200 square meters. It features 30 trains and 400 wagons running along approximately one kilometer of tracks set within carefully detailed scenes.
Patrick Crolle began the museum project in 1980 and spent thousands of hours creating models. The museum officially opened to the public in 2000.
The museum displays miniature scenes of French landmarks including Lyon-Brotteaux station and Tête d'Or park, with Alpine viaducts connecting France and Switzerland. These recreated landscapes tell stories of railway travel and regional life through their attention to detail.
The museum is open on weekends with trains running on their tracks throughout the visit. Plan time to explore the details of each scene and watch the trains move along their routes.
The exhibition includes a detailed miniature recreation of the boarding school from the film Les Choristes within its railway scenes. This cinematic reference adds an unexpected layer to the model landscapes.
