Musée Albert-Schweitzer, Nobel Peace Prize winner museum in Gunsbach, France.

The musée Albert-Schweitzer occupies the former residence of the Nobel laureate in a small village in the Alsace region. The collection includes his personal writings, photographs, belongings, and his 1952 Nobel Peace Prize diploma.

Schweitzer built this residence in 1928 as a European retreat using funds from the Frankfurt Goethe Prize. He used it as a base during breaks from his medical work in Africa and as a center for his writing.

The house shows how Schweitzer divided his life across multiple roles as a physician, musician, philosopher, and theologian in his daily practice. Visitors experience his personal spaces and gain insight into how he balanced these different callings.

The residence is located on Route de Munster in the village center and is easily reached on foot. Guided tours are offered in French, German, English, and the local Alsatian dialect.

The office and bedroom remain exactly as Schweitzer left them during his final visit in 1959. His original piano still stands in the rooms, showing how central music remained to his life.
