European Beer Museum, Beer museum in Stenay, France
The European Beer Museum is a brewing museum in Stenay displaying approximately 55000 objects across multiple spaces. The exhibition is organized into six themes covering brewing techniques, equipment, and everyday items related to beer production.
The building originally served as a supply store for a citadel before being converted into a malthouse during the 1800s. It received official Museum of France status in 2002.
The collection displays advertising materials and posters showing how beer marketing evolved over time. These items reveal how breweries communicated with customers through different eras.
The museum is open daily from March through December, with a typical visit lasting two to three hours. It is located in Stenay town center and easily reached on foot.
The museum features a botanical garden with the only hop plantation in the Lorraine region. This working plantation shows how the plant is grown, demonstrating a key ingredient in brewing.
