Parc du Vivier

Parc du Vivier is a public park in Écully covering around 10 hectares of landscaped grounds with cedar, oak, plane, poplar, and magnolia trees. The site includes six tennis courts with one clay surface, two certified bowling grounds, and five petanque fields for recreation.

The park contains a building constructed between 1780 and 1790 that served as the Ministry of Air headquarters during the French government's relocation in 1940. This structure reflects the role the grounds played during major historical shifts in the region.

The former castle within the park now serves as a restaurant for the Institut Paul-Bocuse and hosts canine exhibitions throughout the year. These buildings create a meeting point where visitors can experience dining and cultural events set within historic surroundings.

The park is accessible on foot and provides parking for visitors planning sports activities or picnics. It is useful to check opening hours in advance and visit during daylight to make full use of all facilities.

The park maintains a growing population of peacocks that have established themselves as recognized residents since their initial introduction to the grounds. These birds have become a notable feature for regular visitors to observe during their walks.
