The Théâtre de la Vieille-Grille occupies a converted grocery store and wine cellar at 1 rue du Puits-de-l'Ermite, near the Grand Mosque of Paris.
Maurice Alezra and Béatrice Moulin established this cultural venue in 1960, transforming a former grocery store into a 50-seat performance space.
The theatre presented performances by emerging artists including Jacques Higelin, Rufus, Bernard Haller, and Coluche at the start of their careers.
The venue operated with ticket prices of 12 euros for adults and 8 euros for children until its closure as a theatre in 2019.
In 2021, the space transformed into a literary cafe named l'Ours et la Vieille Grille, maintaining its connection to cultural activities.
