Tour du Treuil, Medieval fortified house in Allevard, France

The Tour du Treuil rises 25 meters high with thick stone walls measuring 2 meters at the base and contains five distinct levels within its structure.

Built in the 13th century, this quadrangular tower served as a watchtower to monitor the valleys and remained untouched during the French Revolution.

The tower's architecture reflects medieval defensive design with features such as narrow windows, guard posts, and an internal staircase built within the walls.

Visitors can view the exterior of the tower from the road while interior access requires booking accommodations through local tourism services.

A dendrochronological study conducted in 1994 determined that the wooden structures within the tower date precisely to 1375.
