Jardin Dumaine, Public garden in Luçon, France.
Jardin Dumaine is a garden spanning about 4 hectares in Luçon that blends French and English landscaping traditions. The grounds display pyramid-shaped yew trees, open lawns, and flower beds arranged throughout the property.
Dr. Pierre Hyacinthe Dumaine, a physician born in 1790, donated the property to the city of Luçon in 1872. The donation included buildings that the city later converted for use as its town hall.
The grounds display topiary scenes from classic fables and feature an octagonal basin adorned with bronze nymph statues. A music kiosk built in 1907 remains a focal point where visitors encounter period architecture among the greenery.
Entry is free and the park opens daily from 7 AM to 9 PM in summer and 8 AM to 7 PM in winter. Visitors should plan their visit with the seasonal schedule in mind to ensure they have enough time to explore.
A former quarry depression on the grounds has been transformed into a sunken green space containing a small lake with a grotto. Natural rock formations and a rustic bridge link different sections, creating an unexpected landscape feature.
