Parc de Maisons-Laffitte

Parc de Maisons-Laffitte is a large residential estate with tree-lined avenues winding through wooded grounds and numerous private residences scattered throughout. Equestrian facilities for horse training remain a working presence within the landscape.

A banker named Jacques Laffitte purchased the estate in 1818 and began developing it as a planned residential community in 1833 with specific rules. Some of these original regulations for managing the place still apply today.

The park contains country estates and grand houses built in various architectural styles by 19th century owners. These buildings define the character of the grounds and reflect the tastes and wealth of residents from that period.

The grounds are pleasant to explore on foot with marked pathways winding through the green spaces. Plan for plenty of time and wear comfortable shoes as this is an expansive area to walk through.

The stables built in 1906 feature distinctive checkered brick patterns that create an unusual visual appearance. This particular building technique remains visible today as a striking architectural detail.
