Église Saint-Martin de Bouillant, Gothic church in Crépy-en-Valois, France

The église Saint-Martin de Bouillant is a Gothic church in Crépy-en-Valois, in northern France, listed as a historical monument. The building has a nave flanked by two side aisles, all covered with ribbed vaults and supported by octagonal pillars with small attached columns.

The church was built around the middle of the 16th century, most likely after damage caused during the Hundred Years War. The choir and transept were later demolished, and only the base of a bell tower survives as ruins at the northwest corner of the facade.

The church of Saint-Martin de Bouillant belongs today to the parish of Saint-Sébastien, whose main church is Saint-Denis. The former forecourt, once a cemetery, still surrounds the building and gives it a slightly elevated appearance from the street.

The church sits in the center of Crépy-en-Valois and is easy to spot from the street. Since it is only used occasionally, it is worth checking in advance whether it is open before planning a visit.

A crucifix from the 16th century that once hung inside the church is now kept in a local museum, since it no longer remains on site. A funeral slab bearing the name of former parish priest Antoine Mouton, inscribed in Gothic lettering, has also been preserved beneath the church floor.
