Château de Mondétour

Château de Mondétour is an 18th-century country house built from brick with matching wings arranged around a generous courtyard and framed by solid outbuildings set at right angles. Ornate iron gates mark the formal entrance to this complete ensemble, which combines residential, religious, and farm spaces in one composition.

A high official from the Rouen Mint commissioned this château as a residence between 1720 and 1730, establishing it as a seat of wealth and authority in the region. The property evolved as a self-contained estate designed to serve both family and agricultural operations for generations to come.

The estate reflects the order and proportion valued in 18th-century French design, with its carefully arranged grounds and sight lines linking the chapel and nearby church to daily life. The layout shows how religious and domestic spaces were connected through the landscape.

Visitors enter through the formal gates, which immediately show the balanced layout of the entire property spread across right angles. The regular arrangement of buildings and the clear courtyard make it easy to navigate and understand the scale of the complex at a glance.
