Château de Pissy

Château de Pissy is a protected castle in Pissy with two lower wings extending outward from the main building. The structure is built from brick with stone chains and corner quoins running throughout the exterior.

The castle was begun in 1681 under François de Saisseval and expanded through 1734 to create the residential complex as it stands today. These two building phases shaped the property into its finished form.

The architecture shows building styles typical of Picardy, combining brick and stone in ways common to northern French noble residences of the period.

The castle is accessible from outside and can be viewed from various angles around the grounds. Guided visits are organized through local tourism services to explore the property in detail.

The stones used for construction came from a quarry beneath the current courtyard, causing ground subsidence near the outbuildings. This shows how closely the building method was tied to the surrounding land.
