Château de Badefols, Medieval castle in Badefols-d'Ans, France.

The castle stands on a 300-meter hill, featuring 14th and 15th-century buildings with a terrace and wing added during the 17th century.

German forces arrested the castle owners Jehan de Lestrade de Conty and his son Louis in 1944, leading to their deportation to Buchenwald concentration camp.

The land of Badefols received marquisate status in 1762, with the lord of Artigeas and his brother Jean becoming marquis of Bonneguise.

The castle remains privately owned and visitors need to verify access conditions before planning their trip to 43 Le Bourg in Badefols-d'Ans.

Archaeological discoveries revealed Cro-Magnon tools and a Gallo-Roman mosaic, indicating continuous human presence at this location since prehistoric times.
