Château de Badefols

Château de Badefols sits on a hill and displays structures from the 14th and 15th centuries, with a terrace and wing extension built during the 17th century. The building thus combines elements from different periods of construction.

The estate originated in the medieval period and evolved through multiple centuries of building additions. During World War Two, the owners Jehan de Lestrade de Conty and his son Louis were arrested by German forces in 1944 and deported to Buchenwald concentration camp.

The location held the rank of a marquessate starting in 1762, conferring noble title on local lords. This elevation shows how important the estate and its owners were to the wider region.
