Musée de l'automate, Automaton museum in Souillac, France.
The museum exhibits 300 mechanical figures and toys from the late 19th to late 20th century, including Victorian dolls, animals, and Parisian scenes.
Founded in 1988, the museum housed the national collection of automata and mechanical toys primarily from the renowned Roullet-Decamps manufacturer until its closure in 2022.
The collection features the Jazz-band automaton from 1920, created for department store windows, connecting to Souillac's annual jazz festival tradition.
Before its closure, the museum operated with extended hours during summer months and maintained regular schedules throughout spring and fall seasons.
The Little Gardener automaton, the first mass-produced French mechanical toy, earned a bronze medal at the 1867 Universal Exhibition.
