Krešimir Ćosić Hall, sports arena in Zadar, Croatia
Krešimir Ćosić Hall is a large multi-purpose venue in Zadar with a distinctive circular shape and domed structure covering the space. The building features a main playing court of about 1,000 square meters, seating for approximately 8,500 spectators, and four smaller sports halls for various activities.
Construction began in 2004 following designs by a Zagreb architectural firm and was completed in 2008. The first major event was a Croatian handball team qualification match, followed by hosting the 2009 Handball World Championship.
The hall is named after Krešimir Ćosić, a legendary Croatian basketball player whose statue stands in front of the building. Locals sometimes call it Peka and use it as a gathering place for both sports competitions and cultural events that bring the community together.
The hall is situated in the northeastern hill area of Zadar and is easily accessible by car or on foot since it sits between the old city and a residential area. Visitors will find ample parking, wide entrances, clear signage, and wheelchair-accessible facilities for comfortable event attendance.
The hall was built on the grounds of former military barracks, explaining its central location between the old city and residential areas. Beneath the blue playing surface are specialized rooms for athletes, referees, and doping tests that support professional competition standards.
