Hubballi Airport, Regional aerodrome in Hubballi Urban Taluku, India
Hubballi Airport is a regional commercial aerodrome in Hubballi Urban Taluku in Karnataka state that offers domestic connections to major Indian cities. The terminal features multiple counters for check-in and security screening along with waiting areas for arriving and departing passengers.
Land for the facility was secured starting in 1954 during the Bombay presidency period, and the final acquisition phase was completed in 1974 under the supervision of the Public Works Department of Karnataka. Infrastructure expanded over the following decades to serve growing travel demand in the region.
The facility connects the twin cities of Hubballi and Dharwad and serves as a transport hub for travelers across the region. Commuters use the building regularly for flights to larger destinations throughout the country.
Air-conditioned buses link the facility to the main railway station and central bus terminus via Gokul Road, allowing travelers to reach different parts of the city. Arrival and departure information appears on display boards throughout the terminal area.
A large ground-mounted solar plant with a capacity of eight megawatts began operating in April 2021 and supplies the entire facility with renewable energy. The installation makes the site independent from the local power grid and reduces reliance on fossil fuels.
