Ramnabagan Wildlife Sanctuary

Ramnabagan Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected forest area in Bardhaman that includes a small zoo with multiple animal species spread across its grounds. Tall teak trees cover much of the terrain, creating shaded pathways throughout the space.

The forest received protection status in 1960, and was later converted into a deer park during 1978. This transformation marked the start of dedicated conservation work for local wildlife.

The Nature Interpretation Centre within the sanctuary educates visitors about local wildlife conservation and environmental protection through educational programs.

The location is easily reached from Bardhaman Railway Station and sits near the main road. Visitors should wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water, especially during warm months.

The grounds house leopards, sloth bears, and saltwater crocodiles, rarely seen together in such a setting. The population of roaming spotted deer is particularly large and offers visitors good chances to observe them.
