Sarat Chandra Kuthi, Heritage museum in Samta, India

Sarat Chandra Kuthi is a two-story residential cottage in Samta with traditional Bengali architecture, displaying personal items, manuscripts, and artifacts belonging to the renowned author throughout its rooms. The various spaces present the living conditions and literary work associated with his years spent in this house.

The author lived here from 1926 to 1938 and wrote several influential Bengali novels during his time in this house. This period marks a productive phase of his work shaped by the surroundings and experiences at this location.

The house preserves personal belongings and furniture that reveal how an important Bengali writer of the early 20th century lived and worked. The rooms offer a window into the literary world and daily habits of that era.

The house is located near Deulti railway station on the Howrah-Kolaghat line, from which a short auto-rickshaw ride leads to the entrance. Visitors should expect rural conditions and allow adequate time for a thorough walk through all the rooms.

The grounds contain trees planted by the author himself, including guava trees growing beside his meditation area and burial place. These living plants connect visitors directly to the writer's personal history.
