Gurina, Archaeological site in Dellach, Austria.

Gurina is a hillside settlement on the southern slope of Jauken Mountain, where excavations have uncovered residential and economic buildings from multiple periods. The remains cover a substantial area and clearly show how people inhabited this location over many centuries.

The settlement was founded during the Iron Age and reached its peak during the Roman occupation of the region. After Roman power withdrew, the site gradually fell out of use.

The site reveals how people from different backgrounds lived and worked together, blending their crafts and daily practices. Walking through the remains of homes and workshops, you can sense how Celtic and Roman inhabitants coexisted while maintaining their distinct traditions.

When visiting, be prepared for uneven ground since the excavated areas are spread across a hillside. Sturdy footwear is important, and you should allow enough time to properly explore the different sections.

Among the artifacts discovered are rare glass and metal objects that reveal how deeply this site was connected to other parts of the Roman Empire. These items provide unusual evidence of long-distance trade and cultural exchange in ancient times.
