Katholische Pfarrkirche Oberwart, Modern Catholic parish church in Oberwart, Austria.
Katholische Pfarrkirche Oberwart is a modern church building with a distinctive octagonal central structure made of clean-formed concrete. The interior features Marian glass windows, while a broad central nave covered by a square vault and rectangular barrel vaults extending from the cross arms shape the space.
Architects Günther Domenig and Eilfried Huth designed and built the church between 1967 and 1969 as the Easter Church. Bishop Stephan László consecrated the building in October 1969, establishing it in the religious history of the region.
The church is called the Easter Church and reflects its ongoing role in the local community. Visitors notice the modern artworks by Valentin Oman from 1989 in the altar area, which shape the interior experience.
The complex includes a parish center next to the main church, offering additional spaces for various activities. The modern layout and clear spatial design make it easy for visitors of all ages to find their way around.
The interior houses an organ built by Orgelbau Pirchner and installed in 1971, featuring 18 registers. This instrument significantly enhances the acoustics and sound experience during services.
