Augsburger Biwak, Mountain shelter in Grins, Austria
Augsburger Biwak is a basic steel tube shelter located at about 2608 meters on Parseierscharte in the Lechtal Alps. The small refuge provides four emergency sleeping spaces for mountaineers traversing this high alpine terrain.
The shelter was built in 1976 by the Augsburg section of the German Alpine Club, replacing an older damaged plastic structure. The new steel construction was transported by helicopter to this remote high alpine location.
The shelter maintains the traditional Alpine emergency refuge system, providing basic protection for climbers traversing the demanding Augsburg High Trail.
The shelter is open year-round with no advance booking needed. There is no heating or cooking equipment available, so visitors should bring warm clothing and food with them.
From this shelter, several hiking trails lead to other well-known mountain huts, with each route taking several hours. Its location makes it an important stopping point during demanding alpine crossing routes.
