Burgruine Stickelberg, Hollenthon

Burgruine Stickelberg is a medieval castle ruin located on a hilltop in Hollenthon. Stone walls and sections of the former defensive structure remain standing among trees and overgrown vegetation.

Construction took place between 1225 and 1250, with the first written record appearing in 1259 when it was called castrum Steckilberc and belonged to Berthold von Treun. The stronghold was part of the medieval defense network in the region.

The castle ruin represents medieval Austrian defensive architecture and maintains protected monument status under national heritage regulations.

Permission is required to visit as the site remains privately owned and protected as a historical monument. It is recommended to contact local authorities beforehand to understand access conditions and timing.
