Synagogue Bruck an der Leitha

Synagogue Bruck an der Leitha is a medieval stone building with a main room of about 50 square meters. The interior features distinctive cross-ribbed vaults that span the full height of the space.

The building was constructed around 1300 and served the Jewish community until they were expelled in the early 15th century. After that time it underwent several different uses and alterations.

This building was the heart of the Jewish community for generations before its members were forced to leave. The original interior details still speak to that history today.

The building sits near the town hall square and is easy to find when walking through the town center. The municipality has restored it in recent years and now uses it to host events.

The interior preserves hidden openings and viewing slots between rooms that show how the medieval structure originally functioned. These details are rarely found in other surviving medieval synagogues.
