Synagogue Bruck an der Leitha

The stone synagogue features a main hall of 50 square meters with a height of 6 meters and cross-ribbed vaults on the ceiling.

Built around 1300, the synagogue served the Jewish community until their expulsion in the early 15th century, after which the building underwent multiple transformations.

The structure represents one of the best preserved medieval synagogues in Central Europe, maintaining its original architectural elements despite centuries of different uses.

The municipality of Bruck an der Leitha purchased the building in 2015 for 80,000 euros to transform it into an event venue accessible from the town hall square.

The interior contains forgotten openings and viewing slots between rooms that indicate its original function as a place of Jewish worship.
