Schloss Weyer, Medieval castle in Rothleiten, Frohnleiten, Austria
The rectangular castle with remaining moats on its north and east sides stands near the confluence of Gramsgraben and Murtal valleys.
The fortress, built in the 13th century by the Rabensteiner family, underwent modifications in the 16th and 18th centuries under different noble owners.
Franz Freiherr von Mayr-Melnhof transformed the castle into a retirement residence for workers from his paper and cardboard manufacturing enterprise in 1946.
The castle grounds connect to multiple hiking trails, including a 6.1-kilometer circular route from Frohnleiten that takes under two hours to complete.
The original water castle structure incorporated defensive moats, portions of which remain visible along the northern and eastern perimeter of the building.
