Schloss Wolfsberg

Schloss Wolfsberg is a stone castle on elevated ground in Krems featuring architectural elements from multiple periods. The interiors display elaborate coffered ceilings and stucco work that reflect the numerous renovations across different centuries.

The structure began as a medieval fortress and underwent major rebuilding in the 16th century. Later in the 19th century it received Tudor-style modifications that gave it much of its current character.

The castle walls contain grave markers from the 16th century that reflect the site's deep religious connections to the community. These monuments show how the fortress served as more than just a defensive structure for the region.

The castle sits on elevated ground, so sturdy footwear and some physical effort are needed for the climb up. The complex also includes a riding school building that serves as a venue for various events and cultural gatherings.

The riding school building from 1855 features a three-sided loggia on its upper floor, an unusual architectural detail. This loggia combines Gothic and Renaissance elements in an original way.
