The Fuhrmannhaus at Linzer Strasse 404 is a Baroque-era house with a central courtyard that blends architectural features from different time periods. The structure served as both a residence and a traditional wine tavern, operating as a typical Viennese establishment for centuries.

The building originates from the 17th century and incorporates remains of a Roman watchtower beneath its foundations. A preserved medieval window from before 1500 in the courtyard provides evidence of the site's extended history.

Inside the building, frescoes from the late 17th century decorate a small hall that regularly hosts classical concerts, readings, and art exhibitions.

The establishment operates as a wine tavern serving regional wines from the Thermenregion and offering both hot and cold dishes from a traditional Heurigen buffet. The setting suits a leisurely afternoon or evening spent sampling local products and cuisine.

The building's name comes from Franz Xaver Fuhrmann, who purchased the property in 1840 and established a wagon business there. This family-based naming practice has shaped the identity of this well-known wine venue to the present day.
