Dehnepark, Public park in Penzing district, Vienna, Austria
Dehnepark is a green space in the Penzing district featuring meadows, hills, and a silvery pond located between Dehnegasse, Rosentalgasse, and Heschweg streets. The landscape is shaped by a stream and includes the ruins of a neo-gothic villa from the late 1700s.
The site was designed as a landscape garden for Princess Maria Antoine Paar between 1791 and 1804. The neo-gothic ruined villa dates from this period and continues to shape the grounds today.
The park takes its name from August Dehne, a successful confectioner whose pastry shop was well-known at Michaelerplatz in the 1800s. Today, visitors use the space to spend time in nature and enjoy the open green areas.
The park has multiple entrances and is easily accessible on foot, with paths leading through different areas. There is a forest playground, picnic facilities, and drinking fountains available for visitors.
The Rosenbach stream flows through the grounds and creates marshy habitats that become a migration route for toads each spring. This natural phenomenon makes the park an important spot for local wildlife.
