Albertus-Magnus-Schule, Währing, Catholic private school and heritage site in Währing, Austria.
The Albertus-Magnus-Schule is housed in a building with decorative facade elements, side gable projections, and an angel roundel above the entrance portal. The school complex comprises an elementary school, middle school, gymnasium, and secondary school administered by the Austrian Religious Schools Association.
The school building was constructed from 1893 to 1894 following plans by architect Johann Nepomuk Scheiringer. Interior modifications were completed between 1953 and 1954 to meet updated requirements.
The chapel on the third floor features a two-arched entrance decorated with an angel roundel and houses an altar mosaic crafted by Hermann Bauch.
The building is a protected heritage site and clearly visible from the street due to its prominent location in the district. However, access to the interior is restricted to school operations and generally not open to the general public.
Religion teacher Heinrich Maier taught at this school until 1938 and later became a notable resistance fighter against Nazi rule. His story is closely tied to the school and reflects its role during a difficult historical period.
