Sommerarena Baden

Sommerarena Baden is an open-air theatre built with a steel framework and textured plaster walls, arranged in two levels running west to east. It accommodates approximately 700 spectators and functions as a summer performance venue with shows scheduled across afternoon and evening hours.

Its origins trace back to a temporary wooden structure built in 1841 that eventually required replacement. The municipal council made the decision in 1905 to construct a permanent theatre, marking the beginning of the facility as it stands today.

The venue carries forward a deep-rooted operetta tradition that has shaped cultural life in Baden for generations. This programming keeps a musical heritage alive that locals and visitors alike continue to embrace.

The theatre is centrally located in Baden and easily accessible on foot from the town centre. Arriving early for summer performances is advisable, as the outdoor setting attracts many visitors during pleasant weather.

A motorized glass roof system allows the venue to shift between open-air and covered configurations based on weather conditions. This design feature enables performances to continue even when rain or wind threatens the outdoor setting.
