Sommerarena Baden, Open-air theatre in Baden, Austria
The Sommerarena features a steel framework structure with textured plaster facades and presents a two-story layout oriented from west to east.
The municipal council initiated the construction of a permanent theatre in 1905 to replace a temporary wooden structure built by Franz Pokorny in 1841.
The theatre dedicates its program to operetta performances, continuing a musical tradition that spans over centuries in the Baden region.
The venue accommodates 700 visitors and operates primarily during summer months with performances scheduled in the afternoon and evening hours.
A mechanical system controls the glass roof, allowing the transformation between indoor and outdoor configurations depending on weather conditions.
