Pfarrkirche Innsbruck-Arzl, Catholic parish church in Innsbruck, Austria

Pfarrkirche Innsbruck-Arzl is a parish church with a modern concrete structure in Innsbruck, Austria. The building is encircled by a continuous band of windows that connects interior spaces with the surrounding landscape and allows natural light throughout.

The building was constructed between 1959 and 1960 under architect Josef Lackner's design. He created this church to serve the growing population of the Arzl district during that period of expansion.

The church displays circular Stations of the Cross carved by Hans Ladner into concrete walls, allowing visitors to form their own interpretation of each symbolic moment. This personal approach reflects how the space was designed to encourage individual spiritual reflection rather than guiding worshippers through a prescribed narrative.

The building features natural stone flooring with half-wall enclosures and strategically positioned corner windows. These design elements allow visitors to explore the space at any time of day while experiencing the connection between interior and exterior.

The central altar is made of white marble, creating a striking contrast against the minimalist concrete walls and coffered ceiling surrounding it. This interplay between the bright natural stone and rough concrete surfaces draws the eye and anchors the interior visually.
