Bihačka Kula, Medieval defense tower in Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bihačka Kula is a stone tower in Bihač built on a square base and featuring a four-sided pyramid form with limestone details. The building houses several exhibition rooms where objects and information from different historical periods of the region are displayed.
The tower was built during Ottoman rule and served as an important defensive structure on the western frontier of that era. Later, under Austro-Hungarian administration, the building was used as a prison.
The tower takes its name from the city of Bihać and occupies a location where different cultures met over many centuries. Visitors can see in the exhibitions how various peoples lived here and what traces they left behind.
The tower is located near Gradski Park and is easily reached on foot. Visitors will find informational plaques that help explain the building and its various exhibition levels.
The fourth floor of the tower features a reconstruction of the living quarters of a Bihač captain from the Ottoman period. This recreation shows how officials of the border fortress actually lived and what furnishings were available to them.
