Poelbergmolen, Historic windmill in Tielt, Belgium
The Poelbergmolen is a wooden windmill with an open base construction positioned on top of Poelberg hill, providing panoramic views across the surrounding Tielt countryside.
Built around 1631, this windmill has appeared on historical maps since 1712 and operated using wind power until 1964, surviving both world wars throughout its existence.
Designated as a protected monument since 1943, the mill represents Flemish heritage and serves as an important example of traditional industrial architecture in West Flanders.
The windmill is open to visitors every Sunday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and is located on Woestijnbosstraat in postal code 8700 Tielt.
The mill retains its original milling mechanisms including two pairs of millstones and an oat crusher, restored in 1993 to maintain complete operational functionality.
