Quebec City Zoo, Zoo in Charlesbourg, Canada.
The Quebec City Zoo is a former facility spanning nine hectares in Charlesbourg that housed animal enclosures and natural habitats for various species. Today the grounds operate as Parc des Moulins, a public park where visitors can walk through the spaces that once contained wildlife displays.
This facility opened in 1931 and was rebuilt in 1938 after flood damage, adding new bird housing structures. It operated for over 75 years before closing in 2006.
The facility served as an educational center for wildlife conservation, housing both Canadian native species and international animals until its closure in 2006.
The site is located at 8191 Avenue du Zoo in Charlesbourg and is now accessible as a public park. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since the grounds cover a large area to explore.
The grounds welcomed roughly 15 million visitors throughout its operating years. This remarkable number reflects how important the place was to the Quebec City community.
