Old Quebec Funicular, Inclined elevator in Old Quebec, Canada

The Old Quebec Funicular connects Dufferin Terrace at the Upper Town with Petit-Champlain Street in the Lower Town across 64 meters distance.

Built in 1879 as a water balance railway, the funicular underwent a complete transformation in 1998 following a severe accident that led to modernization.

The funicular stands as an engineering achievement within Quebec City's historic district, enabling visitors to experience both colonial architecture and river views.

Operating daily between 9 AM and 9 PM, the funicular provides an alternative to climbing 59 meters of stairs between the two sections of Quebec City.

The funicular travels at a 45-degree angle through the Louis Jolliet House, offering views of the Saint Lawrence River during the two-minute journey.
